They Should Know Better!
The National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics responded to OMB
recommendations on September 8, 1997 in Washington. They characterized the OMB
position, which does NOT include the use of the term Multiracial, as "good."
This committee should recognize that the proposed tabulation of racial data is
not good. The revised OMB directive may not provide any information on health for the multiracial population.
The National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics should be working toward
"truth in racial and ethnic tabulation" instead of accepting the
discriminatory practices of this administration.
