Dear Ms. Graham:
On behalf of the staff of the American Statistical Association, I offer
our sincere apologies for the appearance of language in a press advisory
which you found offensive. I assure you that no offense was intended and
that we will work to prevent any future occurrences. Toward that end, I
am sharing both your concerns and the information you provided with
Gerald W. Gates, Chair, ASA Section on Government Statistics, and the ASA
staff to ensure that all are better informed and to help prevent any
future occurrences.
