June 11, 1998--The first official chapter of Project RACE has been approved. Project RACE of the National Capitol Area will be under the direction of James Landrith. The DC area, Southern Virginia and Maryland will be served by the chapter.

Project RACE (Reclassify All Children Equally) advocates for multiracial children, adults, and their families. Project RACE has members in 42 states and in four countries. The organization has successfully worked with individuals who wish to advocate for a multiracial classification. This is the first organized chapter.
